Push notifications let BEHCA alert you about important events — incident reports needing review, MAR doses, team activity — without having to open the app. They arrive on your phone's lock screen and notification panel.
What you'll get push notifications about
Defaults vary by role, but typical push notifications include:

IR submitted — for Managers/Billing.

IR review requested — for designated reviewers.

MAR review requested — for designated MAR reviewers.

Required Document needs signing — for Staff/Guests on the affected profile.

EVV reminders — visit start/end reminders if configured.

Comments / mentions — when someone replies to your comment.
Which email categories you receive is controlled on the website under Account Settings → Notifications. See Notification preferences. The mobile app does not have in-app notification category toggles — push delivery is handled at the phone OS level (see below).
Enabling push on first launch
When you install BEHCA, you'll be asked: "BEHCA would like to send you notifications." Tap Allow. If you tapped Don't Allow and want to fix it:
On iOS

Open Settings on your phone.

Toggle on Allow Notifications.

(Recommended) Enable Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners.

(Optional) Adjust sound and badge settings.

(Recommended) Configure category-by-category settings if your device offers them.
Turning push off on mobile
You cannot turn off BEHCA push notifications from inside the mobile app. To stop alerts temporarily, use your phone's Do Not Disturb / Focus mode, or disable notifications for BEHCA in Settings → Apps → BEHCA → Notifications (iOS) or Settings → Apps → BEHCA → Notifications (Android).
To reduce email (not push), sign in on the website and adjust Account Settings → Notifications.
Why notifications might not arrive
A short troubleshooting checklist:

Phone is in Do Not Disturb / Focus mode. Notifications are suppressed. Check your phone's status.

System notifications are off. Re-enable in your phone's Settings → Apps → BEHCA → Notifications (iOS) or the Android equivalent.

You're not signed in. Push goes to signed-in users only. Sign in if you're signed out.

Battery saver / battery optimization. Some Android devices throttle background apps aggressively. Whitelist BEHCA.

You changed devices recently. Sign out and back in on the new device to refresh the push token.

Connection issue. Push needs the phone to have internet.
Notification badges
The BEHCA app icon shows a badge number indicating unread notifications. Tapping the icon opens the app to the notifications view. The badge clears when you've seen the items.
Per-profile notifications
Notifications follow your access. You'll only get notified about profiles you have access to. If you've been removed from a profile, you stop getting its notifications immediately.
Common questions

Notifications work on my old phone but not my new one. — Sign out on old, sign in on new. The push token re-registers.

I get duplicate notifications. — This happens for some users; we're not sure of the root cause yet. It may be more likely if you're signed in on multiple devices or also receive email for the same event.

Push works for IRs but not MAR. — Confirm system notifications are allowed for BEHCA. Per-category push controls are not available in the mobile app.

The notification arrived but the app showed nothing. — Open the linked item from the notification again, or navigate to the profile and date manually. There is no dedicated "refresh" control on most mobile screens.

Can I turn off all push but keep email? — Not from the mobile app. Disable push in your phone's BEHCA notification settings, and manage email on the website under Account Settings.
