3. Overview tab — groups, dates, KPIs & table

Last updated on May 19, 2026

Overview is usually the landing tab when navigating to /manager/dashboard. This article covers only that tab’s controls and widgets.

Blue filter strip (groups • calendar • refresh)

The highlighted blue admin toolbar aligns three pillars:

1. Group multi-select

  • Includes every named Group configured for your billing account plus No Group Association, which grabs profiles deliberately left ungrouped.
  • The widget summarizes selections like 2 Group(s) of 2—first number = selected subsets, second = total options.
  • Dismissing the dropdown autosubmits the filter form so KPI totals and staffing tables reload immediately.

Always include No Group Association if ungrouped observables mysteriously disappear from KPI math.

2. Inline calendar range picker

Shares the Analyze dashboard’s UX (two anchored months on desktop / one month on narrow screens). Highlights start/end inclusively respecting your profile date format/timezone pairing.

Compared to Analyze, Overview enforces a shorter allowable forward horizon (~three contiguous months) before the picker blocks additional days—Analyze often lets you chase a twelve-month retrospective.

3. Refresh / Update

The teal Update pill (with rotating refresh glyph) submits the picker even if group chips didn’t move—use whenever you widen/narrow ranges.

4. Export XLS

Appears beside the divider when spreadsheets are permitted for your plan. Exports obey the same group + calendar slice currently loaded in Overview. See Exports from Admin Reports.

KPI cards (Incident + Duration deltas)

Cards render dynamic columns seeded from observable configuration:

Typical column Highlights
Custom behavior ladders (often Desirable / Warning / Challenging) Colors match org palettes
Intervention Strategies Language may soften for self-reporting-heavy cohorts
Environment-focused rows (when tracked) General Environment, Basic Changes, External Influences mirror daily-tracking environment categories
Health KPI Mirrors Health observations category

Inside each shaded card you'll find:

  1. Incidents tally for the filtered window beside a — same, ▲ from N, or ▼ from N trend versus the immediately preceding slice of identical length (see helper footnote beneath the row).
  2. Duration (min) aggregates when durations contribute to that KPI—also trended independently.

Muted helper copy clarifies arithmetic, e.g. Arrows compare the selected period (May 12 – May 26) with the preceding 14 days (April 28 – May 11)—the wording uses your profile’s date masks.

Immediately after KPI cards finish streaming, deeper charts load below. Expect Loading dashboard… until totals and graphs finish hydrating.

Staffing / behavior table (“fleet list”)

Column heading Typical contents
Staff Who logged the tracked entry shown in that row
Profile Profile (observable) name
Behavior Mirrors the behavior/category label saved on the entry
Date/Time Localized timestamps

Exact column ordering may adapt for responsive breakpoints, but headings remain discoverable via screen readers.

Empty-state copy when nothing matches filters

No data found. Please try changing the date range and/or select more groups

When you encounter it:

  1. Widen inclusive dates (+ click Update).
  2. Reopen the group picker to include dormant cohorts.
  3. Verify teams actually tracked inside the narrowed window—Admin Reports won't fabricate blanks.

Common questions

  • Why did every KPI read — same? — Your comparison slice matched totals; widen the span or revisit after fresher telemetry.
  • Why are KPI numbers missing briefly? — Counts populate after the dashboard shell renders; wait a moment rather than reloading the page.
  • Analyze showed spikes but Overview is flat. — Analyze charts one profile independent of grouping; Overview honors every unchecked group filter—double-check the multi-select tally string.
